The Aspen Sports Medicine Foundation (ASMF) is a publicly-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion, support and sponsorship of education and research in the field of sports medicine. We were officially formed in the spring of 1996 and received its 501(c)(3) designation as a public nonprofit corporation on October 1, 1996. Our mission is to provide sound research and education in the field of sports medicine.

Dr. David Waddell is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopedics at LSUHSC School of Medicine, Shreveport, LA.
He is in private practice with Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana. Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana is a multi-subspecialty orthopedic group consisting of twelve physicians. Dr. Waddell has limited his practice to disorders of the knee for the last twenty years. His practice involves arthroscopic surgery, reconstructive surgery, total joint arthroplasty, total joint revision, as well as viscosupplementation.
Dr. Waddell’s experience with viscosupplementation dates back to its initial release in the United States. Since 1997, he has treated over 4,000 knees with 12,000 Synvisc injections. He has compiled a database on those 4,000 knees and continues to update it on an ongoing basis. He has spoken widely across the United States and internationally about viscosupplementation. He is currently involved in both clinical and basic science research regarding viscosupplementation.
